Training

The training got incredibly positive responses from the staff who took part.

Based on this, we are looking to the long-term future by developing an online independent training module. The online training:

  • covers the same five areas as the tested courses;
  • has click-through versions of the lecture content;
  • uses edited versions of the student videos;
  • has links to additional content.

Our programme is currently recommended training for University of Bristol staff through the internal staff training platform, Develop. We are working on making it available to staff from the partner universities.

There are also plans to work with teams within University of Bristol to make it available to other universities, charities, and interested individuals.

Additional funding

We are also working on applying for more funding to create an expanded version of the training. Neurodiversity is not just autism, but includes a wide range of conditions, often overlapping.

Many autistic students are multiply neurodivergent: they have more than one neurodevelopmental diagnosis, such as autism and ADHD for example. This means that it is crucial for university staff to understand and be able to support all neurodivergent students.
